1,682 new Covid cases in the Canary Islands over the last week

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands reports that since the last data update on Tuesday, April 12, there have been 1,682 new COVID-19 cases registered among people over 60 years of age, which is the population group that is followed up after passing the acute phase of the pandemic.

Therefore, the accumulated number of coronavirus cases among this group amounts to 52,928 people in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence as for this age group at 14 days stands at 630.51 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 323.03.

Currently, in the Archipelago there are 317 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 25 are in the ICU and the rest, 292, on the ward.

On the other hand, the Canary Islands registered 12 deaths in the last three days, of which 9 were reported in Tenerife, 2 in Gran Canaria and 1 in Lanzarote. The deceased, aged between 63 and 94 years, were all hospitalized and had previous pathologies.
