An elderly foreign man, approximately 80 years old, passed away on Thursday at Fañabé Beach in Adeje, Tenerife, after being pulled from the water in cardiac arrest.
The incident occurred shortly before noon when beach lifeguards alerted the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 that they had rescued a person from the sea in a state of cardiorespiratory arrest.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched, including a basic life support ambulance and an advanced life support unit from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), as well as officers from the National and Local Police.
Lifeguards performed basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until medical personnel arrived and took over with advanced resuscitation techniques. However, despite their efforts, the man could not be revived, and his death was confirmed at the scene.
Authorities assisted in the response and have filed the necessary reports regarding the incident.
