Activated the yellow alert for strong winds in the Canary Islands

Aemet has activated the yellow alert for strong wind in the Canary Islands, which will be in place on Tuesday and Wednesday as well.

Wind gusts reaching a speed of up to 75 km/h are expected to occur locally in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.

Tuesday forecast - April 19

In the north of the islands of mountainous islands the sky will be predominantly cloudy skies with a low probability of scattered and occasional light rains in the midlands during the early morning hours and at the end of the day.

The sky will be slightly cloudy in Lanzarote and in Fuerteventura in the early and late hours.

The calima should start to clear up and the temperatures will also drop, especially the maximum temperatures during the day.

Yellow warning for very strong wind gusts in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, on the northwest and southeast slopes of the mountainous islands and in the El Paso area.

A general drop in temperatures will be registered, which will be more notable in terms of maximum values, registered during the daytime.

Wednesday forecast - April 20

In the north of the mountainous islands the sky will be predominantly cloudy with a low probability of weak, scattered and occasional rains in the midlands during the first half of the day.

Cloudy intervals in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with the sky clearing up in the afternoon.

Temperatures will continue to drop slightly.

Northeast wind with occasional very strong gusts in the easternmost islands, on the northwest and southeast slopes of the mountainous islands and in the El Paso area.
