Adeje awarded 4 Blue Flags for its beaches in 2021
The municipality of Adeje, located in the south of Tenerife, prides itself in 2021 with four top-class beaches, awaiting tourists with top facilities.
Following the full tests, the four beaches submitted by the council for approval were awarded this important quality certificate the beaches of Troya I and II, Duque and La Enramada.
The mayor of Adeje commented: "The granting of the right to fly the flags is a mark of the high standards of water quality and service. It also means that Adeje has more Blue Flags than any other borough in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife."

Among the services that are essential for the granting of a Blue Flag are information and environmental educational resources, excellent water quality, safety and security for beach users, lifeguards, and information panels in various languages.
Given the Covid-19 crisis, the Blue Flag organization were particularly interested in the maintenance of good water quality - Adeje’s water purification depots are registered with the national department of health and the council also had to indicate the presence of a borough laboratory that carries out regular and systematic checks on the coastal waters to assure a constant and exhaustive control of the quality of the local seas.
The Blue Flag program is operated under the auspices of the Foundation for Environmental Education and is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. In order to qualify for the award a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety-related and access-related criteria must be met and maintained. These include water quality, integrated management, and security for bathers, accessibility, etc.
