ALDI has announced yesterday that it plans to start operations in the Canary Islands starting from the second half of 2022, while at the moment the company is building its first logistics platform in the archipelago, in Gran Canaria, in the area of Arinaga.

Aldi plans to open 20 supermarkets in the Canary Islands in the next three years, with an investment of 30 million euros, which will help create more than 400 jobs in the archipelago.

The German chain of supermarkets is currently operating 350 stores in Spain, while in 2021 it opened 31 new stores and it still has plans to open 6 more until the end of the year.

In its Canary Islands operations, Aldi plans to incorporate as many local products as possible, among its nearly 2,000 items that are currently being sold in its chain of stores.

Aldi will generate more than 220 direct jobs in the Canary Islands in 2022, and up to 400 new jobs, among store staff, logistics platforms, and administration in the next 3 years.

The 20 new ALDI stores that are planned to open will be located on the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.
