Anfi del Mar is one of Gran Canaria's most beautiful beaches, with white sand brought from the Caribbean, which gives it an idyllic look, which is why it's so popular among visitors.

Located in the south of Gran Canaria, in between Puerto Rico and Arguineguin, Anfi del Mar is a man-made beach, that unlike other typical beaches in the Canary Islands, has white sand that was brought over from the Caribbean.

The white sand at Anfi beach plays an important role in the color of the ocean, which appears to be turquoise and crystal clear, making it so popular among visitors in the south of Gran Canaria.

Anfi del Mar is a timeshare resort in Gran Canaria

The beach gets its name from the timeshare resort built around it, which is probably the most famous timeshare resort in Gran Canaria. Playa del Anfi is also known as Playa de la Verga, after the ravine Barranco de la Verga at the end of which it is located.

This beautiful beach is one of the key attractions at Anfi del Mar, so tourists who stay in other resorts travel here just to spend the day sunbathing and swimming in the turquoise waters at Anfi.

Although it was created by the resort that is built right behind it, Anfi del Mar beach is a public beach, like all other beaches in Spain, so everyone has free access to it (you only need to pay to use the facilities like sunbeds, umbrellas, just like on any other public beach in Spain).

We haven't stayed personally at the Anfi del Mar complex, we've only visited the beach during the daytime, so we can't share an opinion about its facilities and prices.

Anfi del Mar is so popular due to its white sand and turquoise water, but also because it's a safe beach for swimming since there are no dangerous currents and the beach is protected by two dikes.

The beach has all the facilities you would expect: sunbeds, umbrellas, toilets (there's a 50 cents fee and you do need a coin to be able to open the door), restaurants nearby and parking.

Swimming at Anfi del Mar

Swimming at Anfi is really safe and pleasant, as the beach gets no big waves and no dangerous currents and there are buoys that will tell you how far you can venture out in the ocean.

Anfi is also good for kids, especially if you're there when the tide is low and the water is really shallow.

You can do all sorts of water sports at Anfi del Mar and there are also some boat trips available from Maroa Island (you will see some boats also stopping in front of the beach, with people who are partying or just doing boat trips around the coastline).

Isla Corazon de Anfi or Maroa Island

Maroa Island is an artificial island with a heart shape, located right next to Anfi del Mar beach.

There are some steps that make it easy to go into the water to swim and it's a nice spot to hang out if you want to be further away from the beach, which can get crowded and noisy sometimes.

On Maroa Island, you will find Maroa Beach Club, so if you want to spend the day in a nice setting, with comfy beach chairs, more privacy than on the beach and then have lunch at a nice restaurant, this might be a good place for you to spend the day.
