The Antigua City Council manages and centralizes up to 60 video surveillance cameras installed in public buildings, sports infrastructures, cultural centers, schools and main traffic areas.

  • The cameras incorporate new video surveillance systems equipped with Artificial Intelligence and immediate connection with fiber and long-range Wi-Fi network.
  • The progressive installation of more video surveillance cameras is mentioned in the recently approved Municipal Budget, says the mayor.

The Mayor of Antigua, Matías Peña García, and the Deputy Chief Inspector of the Local Police, Domingo Fránquiz, have visited Caleta de Fuste, where this week six new state-of-the-art surveillance cameras were installed on José Franchy Roca Street and on roads near shopping centres with the highest traffic volume.

These new cameras are added to those already installed in Caleta de Fuste and to an approximate total of 60 video surveillance cameras installed in the Municipality with state-of-the-art systems, equipped with AI with immediate connection and warning of any possible incident in the area, offering also greater image sharpness and longer distance range.

In order to guarantee safer and quieter spaces, and in response to the demand of residents and businesses, says the mayor, we are investing in the installation of a greater number of video surveillance cameras at strategic points throughout the municipality, with a greater presence in Caleta de Fuste, Costa de Antigua and Antigua, as well as those present in industrial areas, public buildings, sports facilities, cultural centers, near school areas, and main municipal facilities such as, for example, sewage treatment plants and EBARS. The progressive installation of video surveillance cameras is contemplated in the recently approved Municipal Budget, says the mayor, Matías Peña.

These video surveillance cameras are more effective, clearer and even provide warning of a possible incident, allowing a faster, more effective and rigorous response from Local Police agents and other security forces.
