Due to the fact that Gran Canaria is still at level 4 and also based on the health recommendations of the Government of the Canary Islands, the decision has been made to postpone the carnival in Arucas this year.
The Arucas City Council has decided to postpone the celebration of the carnival festivities, scheduled for the end of February and the beginning of March, due to the health recommendations of the Government of the Canary Islands. The carnival will be held between April 29 and May 8.
Everything seems to indicate that, as the months go by, the health situation will improve, which will favor optimal conditions for the celebration of carnival activities and so the residents of Arucas and visitors as well, will be able to enjoy the carnival activities properly.
During these months, the preparations for the carnival galas and activities will continue, in order to ensure the security measures established by the Covid-19 containment protocol.
The Mayor of Arucas, Juan Jesús Facundo, has stated that “the intention of the council is to carry out a safe carnival, maintaining at all times the protocols established for this type of event."
