Gran Canaria is known especially for its beautiful beaches and warm winter weather, so it's a really nice place to visit for a beach holiday and the stunning sunsets will definitely charm you.
Here are some of the best places to watch the sunset in Gran Canaria:
Meloneras promenade is also another good spot to watch the sunset and you'll also get great photos and portraits at "Golden hour", plus you can stop at one of the restaurants in the area to grab dinner with a view of the sunset.
The Maspalomas Dunes are one of the most popular spots on the island to watch the sunset. The sand dunes create a unique landscape and the colors of the sunset are reflected in the sand, creating a breathtaking view.
This charming fishing village on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria is another great spot to watch the sunset. The colorful buildings and boats in the harbor add to the beauty of the sunset. The best place to watch the sunset would be up from Mirador de Puerto de Mogan.
The beach of Amadores is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, and the sunset here is truly spectacular. There's a coastal path linking Puerto Rico beach to Playa de Amadores and that's a nice place to watch the sunset, as the sun goes into the ocean.
Arguineguin is definitely my favorite place to watch the sunset in Gran Canaria. The sun sets over the ocean, creating a beautiful orange and sometimes purple sky. The best spot to watch the sunset in Arguineguin is from the promenade that takes you to Costa Alegre beach
This quiet small town on the west coast of Gran Canaria is one of our favorite spots to watch the sunsets, although it's far from almost anything else on the island and probably not a lot of people visit this place around sunset time. But the sunset from here is truly breathtaking, as you can see the sun setting in the sea, with a view of Tenerife in the distance.
Although the sunset in the photo above may not look too spectacular compared to some of the other sunsets we've shown you from Gran Canaria, the chilled atmosphere that evening on the beach in La Aldea, made it quite special. The other places we've mentioned like Meloneras, Maspalomas dunes or Arguineguin are all popular places, full of people at any time of the day, so La Aldea is quite special in that sense, since there are no tourists crowds here, and you can definitely see much more amazing sunsets that the one shown in our photo (which is still quite special to us, due to the vibe that evening, which can't be shared through a photo unfortunately).
Las Canteras may not have the best position on the island to watch the sunset, but it's a lovely beach with a great atmosphere, and it's really nice to watch how many people gather at sunset on the sand, with a towel and something to drink. Even if it's not the best angle to watch the sunset, you can still see some amazing sunsets, especially when there are interesting clouds in the sky or when Tenerife is visible, or when the sky turns really red.
No matter where you choose to watch the sunset in Gran Canaria, for sure you will be amazed by the beauty of the island.
