The City Council of Antigua has announced on Thursday, March 31 that it has voted to resume the market in Caleta de Fuste, which has been suspended for approximately two years as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic.
The market in Caleta de Fuste will resume its schedule on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the area recently paved and refurbished by the Antigua City Council.
The plenary session also approved resuming the operation of the tourist mini-train with a daily route from the dock to the upper part of Caleta de Fuste.
Therefore, in the next few days, says the mayor, Matías Peña, the market in Caleta de Fuste will reopen, allowing the installation of 200 points of sale and improving accessibility, uniformity and security of this space.
Every Tuesday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. visitors will be able to enjoy in Caleta de Fuste the variety offered by the varied stalls of vendors from twenty different nationalities, says the Councilor for Commerce, Pedro M. Armas, a Market that is an added motive to visit Caleta de Fuste and the municipality of Antigua, also helping other nearby services like cafes and restaurants.
In the same plenary session, the reactivation of the Mini train was also approved, which will shortly return to travel along the roads, near the sports pier, promenade, open shopping areas and the upper part of Caleta de Fuste, every day, on various frequencies, explains the Councilor for Tourism, Deborah Edgington.
