Calima and high temperatures up to 34ÂșC in the Canary Islands over the weekend

A new calima episode is expected in the Canary Islands over the next few days, with temperatures set to rise reaching up to 34°C in some areas of the archipelago.

Friday forecast - May 6

The weather of Friday will be marked by the presence of high clouds, while minimum temperatures will stay mostly and high temperatures will start to rise especially on the islands in the central part of the archipelago and La Palma.

Slight calima might start to enter the archipelago during the last hours of Friday. 

Saturday forecast - May 7

The weather on Saturday will be slightly cloudy, with intervals of clouds throughout the entire day.

Light calima will affect Lanzarote and Fuerteventura starting from the morning and in the afternoon it will also be present in Gran Canaria and it's possible to reach even Tenerife by the end of the day.

Maximum temperatures will rise moderately in some areas, reaching values that could exceed 30-32 ºC in some parts of Gran Canaria and in inland areas of Fuerteventura. 

Sunday forecast - May 8

Clear skies on Sunday morning, followed by intervals of high clouds during the afternoon.

Calima will affect the inland areas of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, midlands and peaks of Gran Canaria, as well as midlands facing east and high areas of Tenerife and La Gomera late in the day. 

Temperatures will continue to rise and they will once again exceed 32 ºC in parts of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, not ruling out values ​​above 34 ºC being reached locally.
