Canary Islands Covid report - 1 April 2022: 954 new cases in people over 60

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, following the new indicators included in the Coronavirus Surveillance and Control Strategy agreed by the Ministry of Health with the Autonomous Communities, reports that since the last update on Tuesday, 954 new cases of Covid-19 have been registered among people over 60 years of age, which is the target population group monitored now that the acute phase of the pandemic has passed.

Therefore, the accumulated number of coronavirus cases among people over 60 amounts to 48,733 people in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 807.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 361.9.

Currently, in the Archipelago, there are 303 people admitted to the hospital with coronavirus, of which 28 are in the ICU and the rest, 275, on the ward. 

On the other hand, the Canary Islands registered nine deaths due to Covid in the last three days, of which six were reported in Tenerife, two in Gran Canaria and one in Lanzarote. The deceased were aged between 68 and 104 years, suffered from previous pathologies and were hospitalized.
