The Government of the Canary Islands, through its Directorate of Infrastructure, Sustainability, and Tourism Quality, has allocated nearly €30,000 for a project requested by the Mogán City Council to replace deteriorated pavement on 250 square meters of the Costa Alegre beach promenade in Arguineguín.
The existing pavement had been worn down by the sea's effects, and the new tiles come with a protective treatment that shields them from harsh weather conditions while repelling water, dirt, and stain-causing liquids.
Tania Alonso, the Council’s Head of Presidency, recently visited the site and noted that the project, expected to be completed in the coming days, aims to replace pavement behind the beach’s restaurant and restroom facilities. “This area has been affected by water overflow when the tide rises,” she explained.
Alonso added that the renovated space not only offers improved comfort but also maintains a consistent aesthetic with the rest of the promenade by using the same type of tiles, now specially treated to resist sea-related wear. She emphasized that upgrades like these help “continue enhancing the quality of our beaches and the services we provide for both tourists and residents.”
During her visit, Alonso also shared that the Mogán City Council has secured authorization from the Directorate-General of Coastlines and Seas for the second phase of the Marañuelas–Anfi promenade, which will extend the walkway from Costa Alegre beach to Carrera beach. The council will soon begin the bidding process for this project, which is already funded.
