UK's Secretary of State for Transport has just announced that the Canary Islands will be removed from UK's quarantine list, in an update about travel corridors.

This is the exact announcement posted by Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Transport, on his Twitter account:

Following an assessment of the latest data, the Canaries, the Maldives, Denmark and Mykonos have been ADDED to the #TravelCorridors list. From 4 am on Sunday 25th Oct, you will no longer need to self-isolate if you arrive from those destinations.

The Canary Islands have been added to UK's safe travel list, which means that travel corridors will be established with the islands in the archipelago and visitors from the UK will be able to return for holidays in the sun, without the need to self-isolate upon return home.

Also, as published on the Gov.uk website:

Latest update:

If you are returning from Spain, except the Canary Islands, you will need to self-isolate on your return to the UK.

The Canary Islands are now exempt from FCDO advice against all non-essential international travel. This is based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.

What does this mean in terms of travel insurance?

In terms of insurance, given the fact that the FCO travel advisory has changed, your travel insurance will not be valid for travel to the Canary Islands and you will be covered.

Are all the Canaries added to UK's safe travel list?

Yes, the update on safe travel corridors applies to all the Canary Islands, so you can travel to any of the islands in the archipelago: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and even La Graciosa, without the need to self-isolate for 14 days when you get back.
