The Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has updated its weather forecast for the Canary Islands, warning of increased calima and moderate temperature drops across the archipelago.
According to Aemet, clear skies will dominate the region today, with intervals of mid-level clouds during the first half of the day. The calima, a dust haze primarily affecting southern slopes, is expected to intensify throughout the morning.
Temperatures are forecast to decline moderately, with highs reaching 25°C in Tenerife and lows of around 16°C in El Hierro. Winds will blow moderately from the southeast, becoming strong in the north, west, and mountainous areas, where very strong gusts cannot be ruled out. By the end of the day, winds are expected to shift to an easterly direction.
In Gran Canaria, clear skies will prevail, though the calima is set to increase during the afternoon. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will also experience clear skies, with the dust haze intensifying around midday.
Temperatures in the region will see a slight decline, more pronounced in inland areas. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, temperatures will range between a maximum of 24°C and a minimum of 22°C.
