The Minister of Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga announced that the company is the first intercity transport company in Spain to implement the card payment system in the entire fleet of its vehicles.

Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa), a company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, extends payment by bank card to all lines of the company, after concluding the process of implementing the new payment system that began operating less than a month ago in some routes, mainly those that connected with the airports and those most used by tourists and visitors.

The vice president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Minister of Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, highlights that "the company is the first intercity transport company in Spain to implement payment by bank card in the entire fleet of vehicles, which comes to highlight once again the Cabildo's commitment to public transport".

The insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, explains that paying by bank card on public transport is becoming more and more common. "This allows greater agility in the payment process when accessing the bus, offering the full range of possibilities to pay for the trip, especially for less frequent users," he points out.

The installation of this new payment option throughout the fleet, with which the same rates are applied as with cash payment, has involved an investment of 745,000 euros for the adaptation of the hardware and software of the ticketing system.

How it works

Users who choose to use the bank card will pay for their trip in a similar way to how it is currently done with the Ten+ card at the driver's desk. The price of the trip will be the same as if it is paid in cash.

The validation and payment of the trip can also be done through smartphones or smartwatches for those who have their bank cards integrated into them.

As a requirement, only Mastercard and Visa bank cards that do not require a pin can be used.
