Chance of rain this weekend in the Canary Islands, especially on Sunday

According to Aemet, this weekend the Canary Islands will be marked by meteorological instability, with rainfall and wind expected across the archipelago. 

Friday's forecast 

Cloudy intervals with a low probability of weak and occasional precipitation in inland areas. Some light and occasional rain is not ruled out in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura during the first half of the day.

No change in temperatures compared to previous days.

Saturday's forecast

Cloudy skies in the western islands, especially in La Palma and El Hierro in the last hours of the day.

Probable weak rainfall in the western islands, which may be more intense, generalized and in the form of showers in La Palma and El Hierro. Some weak and scattered precipitation to the north of Gran Canaria is not ruled out.

Minimum temperatures in slight decrease in the eastern islands and with little change in the rest. Maximum temperatures unchanged or slightly rising.

The wind will turn moderate in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in the afternoon; in the rest of the islands, it will turn to a moderate south component, progressively from west to east, with strong gusts in the evening. Very strong gusts can happen on the summits of La Palma and La Gomera, in the area of ​​El Golfo and north of Anaga. In the central peaks of Tenerife, a northwest wind will also cause very strong gusts in the last hours of Saturday.

Sunday's forecast

Cloudy skies on Sunday on the mountainous islands in the archipelago, with cloudy intervals expected in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Generalized rainfall on the mountainous islands, which could be locally strong in some areas, especially on the western and southern slopes, while in the westernmost islands of the archipelago they could come accompanied by storms as well. Low probability of some occasional light precipitation in the islands located in the eastern part of the archipelago.

Minimum temperatures rising slightly, while the maximums will drop slightly in the western islands, especially in high areas, while the maximums in the eastern islands will rise.

Very strong wind gusts are expected on the high peaks of La Palma and El Hierro, as well as in the central peaks of Tenerife.
