Today, July 26, is the first day since the start of the new measures imposed by the new levels in the Canary Islands, which were announced last week, so we will try to pinpoint the most important restrictions which could affect your holiday in the archipelago.

What is the level on each of the Canary Islands?

First of all, let's resume the current level for each island:

  • Tenerife - the maximum level - level 4
  • Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and La Palma - level 3
  • Lanzarote, La Graciosa and La Gomera - level 2
  • El Hierro remains at level 1

Is the currently a curfew in place on any of the Canary Islands?

At the moment there is no curfew in place in the Canary Islands.

However, the Government of the Canary Islands has made an appeal to the Supreme Court asking them to allow imposing a curfew on islands that are placed at level 3 and level 4. The official decision should be announced this week, but until then, there is no curfew on any of the islands.

Are masks mandatory again outdoors on islands at level 3 or 4?

No, there is no change in mask requirements based on the alert level.

So there is no special mask rule imposed for islands placed at level 3 or 4.

The rule is the same for everyone. You don't have to wear a mask outdoors unless you are in a crowded place where you can't maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other people.
