
A man in his 50s was seriously injured this morning following a scuba diving incident at Playa Chica, in the municipality of Tías, Lanzarote.
According to the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2, the alert was received at 10:13 a.m., reporting that a diver required medical assistance after surfacing from a dive in the popular coastal area.
Medical personnel from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) responded to the scene with a medicalized ambulance and a basic life support unit. Upon arrival, they assisted the man, who was suffering from severe respiratory complications related to the immersion. After being stabilized at the site, he was transferred in serious condition to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital.
The Local Police and the Civil Guard also participated in the emergency operation, providing support and securing the area while medical teams carried out their work.
Playa Chica, known for its diving spots and clear waters, is a frequent location for underwater activities, attracting both local and visiting divers. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the incident.
