Good news for holidaymakers going to Fuerteventura: Antigua and Caleta de Fuste will celebrate for the first time a Daytime Carnival with parades, performances and music groups.
The Department of Celebrations of the Antigua City Council had already announced that it planned to organize Daytime Carnivals when people would once again be allowed to dance dress up and enjoy.
The Plaza de Antigua will host a Daytime Carnival for the first time on June 11, to the rhythms of a Celia Cruz Tribute, the Zulimar band, the Sambukka batucada, performances by NKlave, Grupo Bomba and the DJs Cat and Clandestina.
The DaytimeCarnival will take place in the Plaza de Antigua on Saturday, June 11 and in Caleta de Fuste on the beach of El Castillo on June 18, in both locations from 12:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
As the usual celebrations of the carnivals could not be organized due to the phase of the pandemic at that moment, it has been decided to organize these daytime events in summer, now that Europe is relaxing restrictions and people are starting to travel again.
The first Day Carnival is organized in Antigua with a full line-up where visitors will be able to fully enjoy the Batucada Sambukka through the main streets, along with the Comparsa Zulimar, the rhythm of the DJ Clandestina and DJ Cat, the Murga Tictacticos, the Tribute to Celia Cruz with "La vida es un carnaval" and performances by the music bands Bomba y Orquesta and NKlave.
