Fuerteventura is gearing up to attract more German tourists by 2025, aiming to secure quality visitors both in the winter and summer seasons.
Marlene Figueroa, the island's Tourism Minister, highlighted that Fuerteventura is currently the sixth most popular destination for German travelers, thanks to consistent efforts to meet their expectations. This strong demand offers a great opportunity for the island to adapt its offerings to meet the evolving needs of these tourists.
Next week, Figueroa will lead a series of professional events in four German cities—Hamburg, Paderborn, Saarbrücken, and Reutlingen. She will be joined by representatives from five major hotel chains on the island, including Elba Hoteles, Princess Hoteles, and Iberostar. The goal is to showcase Fuerteventura’s top-quality offerings to over 200 German travel agents and sales professionals, hoping to increase the island’s market share and secure high-quality tourism for 2025.
The roadshow, organized in collaboration with the German tour operator TUI, will feature 13 four- and five-star hotels from Fuerteventura. These hotels, located in Pájara, Antigua, and La Oliva, will present their specific offers directly to the key players in Germany's travel industry.
Figueroa emphasized the importance of the German market, noting that German tourists appreciate sustainability, spend more money, and stay longer than average visitors. These factors make them a valuable segment for Fuerteventura, especially as the island has seen a 7.4% increase in German tourists in the first half of this year. After years of decline, this growth is a result of careful planning and targeted efforts to reclaim the German market. Now, the focus is on attracting the most desirable tourist profiles to ensure strong occupancy rates moving forward.
These professional events in Germany are just one of the strategies being implemented to boost Fuerteventura's visibility and direct connectivity with key tourist markets.
