Emergency teams in Spain have recovered the body of a 35-year-old German woman who had been missing since Thursday in a rugged area near the Mirador de Hilda on the island of Tenerife.
Authorities confirmed that the woman was found on Saturday around 12:30 p.m. in the mountainous terrain of the Macizo de Teno, bringing a tragic end to an intensive three-day search operation.
Three days of intensive search
The alert was raised on Thursday at 9:13 p.m., prompting a coordinated response led by the Guardia Civil. Specialized units, including the GREIM and Seprona, joined local police officers from Buenavista del Norte in the search.
Volunteer firefighters from Santiago del Teide and professional fire crews based in Guía de Isora also took part, combing through steep ravines and difficult terrain known for its challenging geography.
Search teams worked from early morning until evening on Friday but were forced to suspend operations due to poor visibility and hazardous conditions. Efforts resumed early Saturday, when responders ultimately located the missing woman’s body.
Difficult terrain and weather conditions
The Mirador de Hilda viewpoint, located along the winding road connecting Santiago del Teide and Masca, is widely known for its dramatic scenery. However, authorities note that the surrounding trails and slopes can be dangerous, particularly when weather conditions reduce visibility.
The exact circumstances of the woman’s death have not yet been confirmed. Emergency services have expressed condolences to her family and friends following the discovery.
Officials say the case remains under investigation.
