Gran Canaria bus crash: several people injured after bus brakes fail

Several people were injured at the San Telmo station in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria when a Global bus crashed while departing for Arucas, according to emergency services on the scene.

The bus reportedly lost its brakes during the exit maneuver inside the San Telmo Interchange, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a station wall.

One of the injured people is a passenger who was trapped inside the bus; firefighters are currently working to free them. According to emergency services (112), the passenger has sustained trauma that does not appear to be serious at first assessment.

One other injured person was outside the bus and has already received medical attention.

Three ambulances and a team of city firefighters responded to the station. Several nearby areas of the station have been evacuated to secure the scene and facilitate emergency response efforts.
