On October 11, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., emergency services responded to an incident at Cofete Beach, in the municipality of Pájara, on the island of Fuerteventura. A 63-year-old man was found floating face down in the sea, about 100 meters from the shore.

The alert was received by the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112, prompting an immediate activation of emergency resources.
