A 50-year-old woman was airlifted to safety on Tuesday afternoon after suffering a minor leg injury while hiking in the Cañón Las Peñistas area, near the Arco Secreto, in the municipality of Pájara (Fuerteventura). The incident occurred at around 14:55 on 2 December 2025.

According to the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the hiker sustained a mild lower-limb injury that prevented her from continuing the route. She was later transported in a basic life support ambulance to the Hospital General de Fuerteventura Virgen de la Peña.

The Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received the alert from two hikers, prompting the immediate activation of emergency resources. Local Police and Pájara firefighters reached the injured woman on foot but, due to the difficult terrain, requested an aerial evacuation.

A rescue helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) carried out the extraction with the support of firefighters and police officers. The woman was flown to Fuerteventura Airport, where SUC personnel provided initial medical care before transferring her to the hospital.
