A 40-year-old surfer was rescued by the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) helicopter on Playa La Laguna, located in the municipality of La Oliva, after sustaining a leg injury in a remote area of the coast.
The Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert at the stated time, reporting that the surfer required medical assistance due to the injury, which occurred in a location difficult to access by land. Emergency services were promptly activated, including a rescue helicopter from the GES and a basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).
Rescue personnel aboard the GES helicopter reached the injured surfer, provided initial care, and airlifted her to the island’s airport. Upon arrival, SUC medical staff took over, stabilizing her condition before transporting her to Fuerteventura General Hospital.
The surfer sustained a moderate leg injury and was reported to be in stable condition, barring complications.
