The rain on Sunday has been really intense in some areas of the Canary Islands, which has caused a lot of canceled flights and even diverted ones, as well as other incidents like landslides, floods and fallen trees.

Although Hermine is no longer considered a tropical storm, instead it was downgraded to a tropical depression, it has still managed to cause a lot of heavy rain in the Canaries this Sunday, as it passed close to the archipelago, affecting  the western islands and Gran Canaria more than Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

The local Government has announced that the maximum level of alert will remain in place on all islands until Monday at 12 pm.

Aena announced that 215 flights to/from the Canary Islands have been canceled this Sunday and several have been diverted as well:

  • Tenerife North: 95 cancelations and 7 diverted flights
  • Gran Canaria: 35 cancelations and 7 diverted flights
  • La Palma: 41 cancelations
  • Lanzarote: 20 cancelations
  • El Hierro: 20 cancelations
  • La Gomera: 4 cancelations
