Intense calima episode and Orange warning for strong wind in Tenerife, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera

According to Aemet, Christmas day will bring probable heavy rainfall in the western islands, from noon on La Palma and during the late hours of the day in the rest of the western islands, less like in Tenerife.

Starting from Monday, an important episode of calima is predicted by Aemet, which will affect especially the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

In Gran Canaria, the weather will be cloudy in the morning, with some form of precipitation also possible.

In the western islands, there are chances of weak to moderate rainfall with a probability that they will be could be persistent in La Gomera and Tenerife. Snowfall is possible on the peaks of La Palma and Tenerife above 1,800 to 2,000 meters.

On Tuesday the sky will be predominantly cloudy in the afternoon, with chances of occasional rainfall, more likely to happen on the mountainous islands.

Aemet has activated the Orange warning alert on Tuesday for the islands of Tenerife, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera due to moderate to strong wind with very strong gusts, which could exceed 90 km/h on exposed peaks and in midland areas.

 The episode of calima is also expected to continue on Tuesday as well.
