More than 45 athletes from 12 countries are scheduled to participate in the first edition of the 'Fuerteventura Kitefoil World Series 2021', which will be held on the beach of Risco del Paso, in the municipality of Pájara, between 23 - 27 November, in the place chosen as the official headquarters by the International Kiteboarding Association.

Fuerteventura Kitefoil World Series 2021 Dates: November 23 - 27

Gran Canaria Kitefoil World Series 2021 Dates: November 30 - December 4

This event will be held for the first time on the island of Fuerteventura between the next 23 and 27 November and will bring together athletes from all over the world.

This is a great opportunity for visitors to take advantage of the climate of Fuerteventura and Canary Islands in general, which enjoy mild winters and pleasant temperatures all year round.

"The Kite Formula is one of the kiteboarding modalities that will be Olympic in Paris 2024, so it seems fundamental to us to continue working on bringing these competitions to the islands", emphasizes Manuel Martínez, president of the Canakite Experiences Club and organizer of the 'Fuerteventura Kitefoil World Series 2021 '.

The Kitefoil World Series this year will have 5 stops in 3 different countries, the Canary Islands being the place that will host the only competitions that will take place in Spain: Gizzeria (Italy), San Traunsee (Austria), Cagliari (Italy), Fuerteventura (Spain), Gran Canaria (Spain).

This year, due to the pandemic derived from Covid-19, the events of the Kitefoil World Series could not be carried out in Asia and the United States, “so the Canary Islands are once again becoming truly lucky islands, since we have been able to bring two events of the circuit to the islands of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria ”, says Guiomar Bonilla, technical director of the Canarian Sailing Federation, an entity that co-organizes in the celebration of the championship.

Due to the internationally recognized quality and the constancy of the winds, Fuerteventura has established itself as an idyllic place for athletes from all over the world who can practice kiteboarding 365 days a year. "That is why the IKA has chosen the island as the official venue for this event," says Denis Rondanini, CEO and partner of Ion Club Fuerteventura, an entity that has made it possible for international events like this to become a reality on the island.

Over the past 20 years, kiteboarding has been a rapidly growing outdoor activity and, with its inclusion in the Paris 2024 Olympic Program, its performance has reached elite levels.

But the organizers of these competitions have not only proposed that Fuerteventura and, in general, the Canary Islands, be a focus of attraction for athletes from all over the world, but that through these events they also learn to value the beauty of the Canarian landscape. "Through the Fuerteventura Kitefoil World Series 2021 we will promote the cleaning of the beaches of Jandía, both on sea and on land, for which we will have the collaboration of the participants and anyone who wants to lend a hand", concludes the organizer, Manuel Martínez.
