The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has announced that based on expert's estimates, the lava flow will reach the coastal area at around 8:00 p.m today.

Until now, only material damages have been reported, which the authorities consider as a great achievement in the face of a phenomenon of this magnitude.

Both the President of the Government of the Canary Islands and Spain's Prime Minister have reassured the people affected by the eruption, who have lost their homes and lands, that the authorities are working on the draft of a decree-law with the aim of helping people rebuild their houses as soon as possible.

The Maritime Captaincy has already established a perimeter of exclusion at ocean level, starting from the south at Punta del Pozo (Puerto Naos) up to the north at Las Viñas beach (Tazacorte) and parallel to the coast half a nautical mile from it, while by land the security forces will prevent access.

The committee reports that throughout this Monday 40 homes have been evicted in Tazacorte, as the lava flows enter the municipality on their way to the sea, which raises the number of evacuated people to around 5,500.
