
A 70-year-old woman was rescued after showing signs of drowning on Thursday afternoon at Los Cristianos Beach, in the municipality of Arona, Tenerife.
The incident occurred at around 2:06 p.m. on January 29, 2026. According to emergency services, beach lifeguards removed the woman from the water after noticing symptoms consistent with drowning and immediately alerted the Canary Islands Emergency Coordination and Security Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2.
Upon receiving the alert, the 1-1-2 centre immediately activated the necessary emergency resources. Lifeguards on the beach provided initial assistance to the woman until healthcare personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Medical Service (SUC) arrived and continued medical care at the scene.
The woman was subsequently transferred by a basic life support ambulance operated by the SUC to Hospiten Sur University Hospital for further treatment.
Local Police officers were also deployed and took charge of carrying out the relevant procedures related to the incident.
