A 69-year-old man is in critical condition after being resuscitated from a cardiac arrest at Corralejo Beach in La Oliva, Fuerteventura, on August 25, 2024, around  7:00 PM.

The situation began when the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received several calls reporting an unconscious person lying on the shore of the beach. The man appeared to be in cardiac arrest, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

CECOES immediately activated the necessary emergency resources, including a mobile ICU and a basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), along with a doctor and nurse from the Corralejo health center. Beach rescue services, firefighters from La Oliva, the local police, and the Civil Guard were also involved.

Upon arrival, the firefighters took over the assistance, using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Thanks to the quick actions of both the bystanders and the professional rescuers, who performed advanced CPR techniques, the man’s cardiac arrest was successfully reversed.

Once stabilized, the man was transported in critical condition by the mobile ICU to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, where he is currently receiving specialized care. The police also collaborated with the emergency services throughout the incident.
