Man dies after scuba diving in Lanzarote

A tragic incident occurred in Charco del Palo, a locality within the municipality of Haría, Lanzarote, on October 14, 2024, at approximately 1:49 PM. A 70-year-old man lost his life following a scuba diving activity.

The Canary Islands Emergency Services (CECOES 112) received an alert reporting that the man had lost consciousness after coming out from the sea. He had suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest. In response, CECOES 112 promptly dispatched the necessary emergency services, including a medicalized ambulance and a basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), along with local police and Guardia Civil units.

Upon arriving at the scene, medical personnel confirmed that the man remained in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite their efforts to perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, they were unable to resuscitate him, and his death was confirmed at the scene.

The police also took charge of initiating the appropriate legal procedures related to the incident.
