A 70-year-old man drowned this Tuesday at Guacimeta Beach in Playa Honda, according to the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes).
The swimmer was found unresponsive in the water after disappearing at Guacimeta Beach, located between Playa Honda and Matagorda. Windsurfers discovered him about 400 meters from the shore at around 5:00 PM.
He was transported by a rescue boat to the Arrecife pier, arriving in cardiac arrest.
The Canarian Emergency Service personnel performed both basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers but were unable to revive him, confirming the man's death.
The Civil Guard is handling the investigation, with support from the local police and other emergency resources.
