Man drowns at Fañabé Beach in Tenerife

A man has tragically died after being rescued from the waters off Fañabé Beach in the municipality of Adeje, Tenerife, on May 17, 2025, according to the Canary Islands Emergency Services.

At approximately 4:56 p.m. on Saturday, the 1-1-2 Emergency Coordination Center (CECOES) received a distress call reporting a swimmer in trouble in the sea. Emergency teams, including a sanitizing ambulance, a basic life support unit from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), local lifeguards, and medical staff from the Adeje Health Center, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Lifeguards managed to pull the man from the water, but he was found to be in cardiac arrest. They initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the beach, which was continued at an advanced level by the arriving medical team.

Despite these efforts, the SUC paramedics confirmed the man’s death upon their arrival. The Local Police were also present to assist the response teams in managing the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released, and the circumstances leading to the incident are currently under investigation.
