On Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1:07 PM, emergency teams carried out a difficult rescue in Los Charchones, a rugged coastal area in the municipality of Yaiza, Lanzarote.

A 32-year-old man had to be rescued by a helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) after falling in a rocky, hard-to-reach zone along the coast.

The Canary Islands Emergency Coordination and Safety Center (CECOES) 112 received a distress call requesting medical assistance for the injured man. The response was swift, with multiple emergency services mobilized, including a GES rescue helicopter, a basic life support ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), the Lanzarote Consortium for Safety, Emergencies, Rescue, Prevention, and Firefighting, and local police.

The GES helicopter conducted a partial landing at the site, where rescuers managed to reach the man and airlift him to the helipad of the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium in Arrecife. Once on the ground, SUC personnel evaluated and treated the man, who had sustained moderate injuries. He was then transported by ambulance to Dr. José Molina Orosa Hospital for further care.

The local police have opened an investigation into the incident.
