Man rescued with drowning symptoms off Tenerife coast

A 28-year-old man was rescued on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 2, after experiencing moderate symptoms of drowning while swimming near Playa Amarilla, in the municipality of Arona, Tenerife.

The incident occurred at around 6:31 p.m., when the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert reporting that a man was in distress approximately six meters from the shoreline.

Emergency services were immediately activated. The man was pulled from the water by individuals who were nearby at the time. Upon arrival, paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) provided the man with initial medical care.

He was then transported by a basic life support ambulance to Hospiten Sur University Hospital for further treatment. According to SUC, he presented moderate signs of drowning at the time of the first medical assessment.
