The plenary session of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council unanimously approved today the celebration of the 2023 Maspalomas International Carnival between the dates of March 9 and March 19.
As mayor Conchi Narváez stated during the plenary, Maspalomas International Carnival is one of the oldest on the island of Gran Canaria, which has been celebrated uninterruptedly over time, until the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. At that moment the pandemic forced the suspension of the 2020 Carnival, which had already begun, and prevented the 2021 Carnival from being organized, due to health restrictions.
In 2022 the carnival in Maspalomas was celebrated in June, much later than usual, but with things progressing towards normality, the City Council wants to bring back the carnival to its original dates, which is usually during the months of February or March.
In case you won't bring any special costume with you on holiday, you will be able to find something suitable in one of the Chinese shops or even in some of the big supermarkets.
We will update this page in regards to the theme, schedule and other info as soon as more details about the carnival will be announced by the City Council.
