The Maspalomas-Gran Canaria Tourism Rehabilitation Consortium has put out to tender the supply of sunbeds and umbrellas for the beaches in the area of Maspalomas Costa Canaria, for a value of 600,000 euros, divided into two lots.

One of the lots will be comprised of simple hammocks, spare parts and double-covered Balinese beds with a value of 263,500 euros, and the second lot will be comprised of circular umbrellas, various spare parts and windbreaks for 297,246 euros.

This action is requested and financed by the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and the objective is the acquisition of approximately 1,400 new sunbeds and 1,400 umbrellas suitable for the renovation of beach furniture in the Maspalomas Costa Canaria area. Other products such as elements of protection against the direct action of the wind for the beach users (windbreaks) are also included in this contract. It also includes the acquisition of new umbrella boxes, and about 1,000 canvases to renew the current hammocks and other spare parts.

On the other hand, as a novelty, some 20 covered Balinese double hammocks will be installed on Meloneras Beach, which will serve as a pilot project in order to incorporate them in the future in other coastal areas of the municipality, providing higher quality furniture for visitors who wish to relax in comfort.
