6 Best Natural Pools in Fuerteventura

We'll never get tired of saying this, but beaches in Fuerteventura are among the best in Europe, with crystal blue waters and fine white sand. However, if you want a different experience, you can go and swim in one of the many natural pools in Fuerteventura.

Some of these pools are better to be visited during low tide, otherwise, the waves of the ocean can come crushing inside the pool and it could be dangerous.

Check the tide level online before going if you plan to go in and swim since most of these places look very different depending on the time of day - some of them should be visited at high tide and others at low tide.

1. Aguas Verdes

Aguas Verdes is probably the most well known natural pool in Fuerteventura, situated in Playa del Valle. The name Aguas Verdes belongs to a holiday complex nearby, so it's a bit confusing when trying to find the place.

It is situated on the west coast, and you have to take the FV-30 and then turn towards Llanos de la Conception, following the road that leads towards the beach.

See the exact location on Google maps for Aguas Verdes. It's marked on Maps as Playa del Valle, on the west coast, further south from Puertito de los Molinos.

As you can see, Aguas Verdes is situated on the wild side of Fuerteventura, as the west coast of the island is not as developed as the east side.

2. The natural pool in Puertito de los Molinos

We've written a dedicated post to Puertito de los Molinos, but we have to include the natural pool here also. This is the natural pool in Fuertevutra, which you can see in the photo at the beginning of our article.

You won't find this one mentioned in many places, but it's a beautiful place to swim during the summer months. During winter the beach looks somewhat different and even the pool may be unrecognizable and dangerous to swim in.

Again, this pool is best enjoyed during low tide, as access to it may be difficult (if not impossible) during the high tide. In order to find the pool, when you arrive at the beach, head over to the right side, towards the bar-restaurant called Bohemias del Amor. If it's low tide you can go through the shallow water around the rocks and there you will find this nice place to swim in. The water was very warm in September and it's like having your own private pool in one of the best settings in Fuerteventura.

3. Sotavento lagoon

Sotavento Lagoon represents an iconic spot in Fuerteventura, which you can see on many postcards and in all travel guides when presenting the island. The lagoon at Playa Barca is hugely popular especially among kitesurfers, but even if you're not a kitesurfer it's still an amazing place to see in Fuerteventura.

4. El Cotillo lagoons

The lagoons near El Cotillo are one of our favorite spots for a quiet beach day (although it depends on the day and the season). But we usually manage to find a quiet spot just for us. When the water is calm, these natural pools in Fuerteventura are the perfect place for children to play, since the water is shallow and it has a lovely turquoise color, which is very inviting.

5. The rock pool in Caleta de Fuste

This is one isn't popular either, but it can be easily accessed on foot from Caleta de Fuste.

It's better to go to the rock pool during the low tide.

6. The natural pool on the island of Los Lobos

This one isn't actually in Fuerteventura, but the island of Los Lobos can be visited via a short boat trip from Corralejo. Just remember that now you need a permit in order to be allowed on the island. Read all the details about how to get your permit for Los Lobos Island (the permit is free).

This uninhabited island has some amazing places to swim, including a natural pool in Puertito de Lobos.

The water here is of turquoise color and amazing to swim in, so it's a great place to visit during your holiday.
