The new sunbeds at Meloneras beach

The Department of Coast and Beaches of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has begun the renovation of the sunbeds and umbrellas of the entire coastline of the municipality, specifically it has begun changing the entire sector corresponding to Meloneras Beach.

At the end of last year, the tender and purchase procedure began, by the Maspalomas-Gran Canaria Tourist Rehabilitation Consortium, for aproximately 2,000 umbrellas and 2,000 sunbeds, with an investment of 600,000 euros. The objective of this investment is none other than to renew the obsolete parasols and hammocks on the beaches of Meloneras, Maspalomas, Playa de Inglés and El Cochino, given the state of deterioration in which these were found.

The first visitors at Meloneras Beach have already been able to check out and test first-hand the new sunbeds, which they say are "more comfortable and resistant" than the old ones. At the time of acquiring the new material, a change of color has been proposed, which would be more similar to the color of the sand, trying in this way to blend more with the space and preserve the image of the Natural Reserve of the Dunes of Maspalomas and its beaches.
