Over a million residents in the Canary Islands have received at least one dose of vaccine against Covid-19

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has administered 1,552,046 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19, out of the 1,599,810 received, which represents 97.01% of those received in the archipelago.

In addition, the immunization of 608,412 people who have already received the complete vaccination scheme against the coronavirus had been achieved, which represents 32.52% of the target population of the Canary Islands.

Likewise, in the Archipelago, there are already 1,008,056 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine, that is, 53.88% of the target population.

The vaccination schedule is being developed depending on the target population groups and also based on the available doses of vaccine destined for each age group according to the National Vaccination Strategy against COVID-19. In this sense, the vaccination teams in each health zone are advancing with each population group as the previous one ends.

Group coverage

After immunization with two doses of groups 1 and 2 (those corresponding to residents and workers of social health centers and first-line health professionals), vaccination continues with the rest of the groups established following the criteria of vulnerability and exposure.

It should be noted that group 4, that of large household dependents, is 75.07% immunized with the two doses. Regarding group 5, made up of people over 66 years of age who do not reside in nursing homes, there are already 219,104 people who have received the two doses, that is, 76.08%.

Group 3 is already 100% with one dose and 72.94% with two doses; and group 6, made up of 66,000 people, which includes teachers, firefighters and policemen, 78.74% already have a dose, while 60.76% are already immunized.

Of group 7, which includes the population under 60 years of age at risk of severe COVID-19, there are 12,248 people that have been vaccinated with one dose, making up 99.58% of the target group and 78.66% of that group has received both doses.

For their part, 116,791 people between the ages of 60 and 65 who make up group 8 have already received a dose, which represents 76.59% of that group; while 24.10% already have both doses. Regarding group 9, made up of people between 50 and 59 years old, 79.34% have already received one dose, and 57.63% of that age group already have both doses.

The inoculation of group 10, which includes people aged between 40 and 49 years, has also progressed so that 110,751 people, 34.39% have received at least one dose, while 9.16% already have the complete vaccine scheme. Regarding group 11, made up of people between 30 and 39 years old, 6.90% already have at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19.
