Rain continues in the Canary Islands as Yellow alert is activated for Wednesday
Locally heavy rains will continue to affect the Canary Islands this Monday, while in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura only moderate rains could be expected.
Monday forecast - December 5th
Cloudy sky in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with weak or locally moderate rains in the first half of the day, accompanied by high cloudiness in general. On the summits and southern and western slopes of the mountainous islands, cloudy skies will be predominant with rainfall until noon.
Moderate to strong wind, with very strong gusts in high areas during the first half of the day. On the peaks of La Palma and Tenerife, speeds of 90 km/h could be reached or exceeded at dawn. Throughout the afternoon the wind will drop noticeably.
Tuesday forecast - December 6th
The weather will be cloudy in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with low probability of light and occasional rains in the afternoon.
On the rest of the islands, cloudy intervals with a probability of some rain, generally weak, especially in the afternoon on the southwest slopes and in interior areas facing northeast.
The sky will be cloudy in the western islands due to medium and high cloudiness. Minimum temperatures will slightly decrease and maximums will remains mostly the same.
Wednesday forecast - December 7th
On Wednesday, the precipitation will be moving from west to east throughout the day, affecting all the islands, although it will be weaker in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
The rain could be locally strong on the western and southwestern slopes of the mountainous islands.
A yellow alert has been activated by Aemet for the islands of La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria, due to the amount of accumulated precipitation predicted, which could reach up to 20 mm in one hour in various areas of La Palma and up to 15 mm in La Gomera, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and El Hierro.
