Rising temperatures and light calima in the Canary Islands this week

Aemet has announced that temperatures will rise this week and from Tuesday there's a probability of calima, especially in the eastern islands.

This episode of light calima is expected to last a few days, mostly at high altitudes and mainly in the eastern islands. Temperatures will rise to around 30 - 31°C in some parts of the Canaries, like in Mogan, the south of Gran Canaria.

Monday forecast

Cloudy skies will be predominant in the early and late hours of the day in the mountainous islands, with the possibility of some weak and occasional rain during the early morning.

In the easternmost islands, slightly cloudy, except for the north of Lanzarote where cloudy skies will be predominant on Monday. In the central peaks of Tenerife, wind from the southwest, with strong intervals starting in the morning.

Tuesday forecast

From Tuesday there's a probability of calima, especially in the eastern islands of the archipelago like Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

Minimum temperatures will remain mostly the same, while daytime temperatures will be rising, mainly in inland and central areas of the islands.

Northeast wind, more intense on southeast and northwest slopes. In the central peaks of Tenerife, wind from the southwest, with strong intervals in the second half of the day.

Wednesday forecast

Cloudy morning in the north of the mountainous islands, while in the eastern islands the sky will be cloudy, especially in the early and late hours of the day. 

Light calima is also expected on Wednesday in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with temperatures continuing to rise, especially in inland areas. 

Northeast wind, more intense on southeast and northwest slopes. In the central peaks of Tenerife, moderate to strong southwest wind.
