A €14 million investment has been approved for the full renovation of the iconic Riu Calypso Hotel in Morro Jable, marking a significant step in the ongoing transformation in Morro Jable's tourism sector.
The refurbishment is part of a broader strategy aimed at modernizing the municipality's hotel infrastructure. So far, over €60 million in tourism-related licenses have been processed during the current term, reflecting growing momentum in revitalizing the local hospitality industry.
First Deputy Mayor and Urban Planning Councilor Alexis Alonso emphasized the project's impact on boosting the area's competitiveness while maintaining a sustainable use of land. “This initiative enhances the urban landscape and the quality of services offered to our visitors,” he said.
Mayor Alejandro Jorge also praised the move as a strong contribution to a more sustainable and high-quality tourism model. “This kind of investment not only revitalizes the sector but also creates jobs and attracts further opportunities for the municipality,” he noted.
The Riu Calypso renovation represents a key milestone in the push toward a responsible, modern tourism approach, aiming to balance economic development with improved urban environments and quality of life for both residents and guests.
