A Ryanair flight that took off this Sunday from Tenerife South-Reina Sofía Airport bound for Edinburgh declared an emergency on board shortly after takeoff.

According to reports from Air Traffic Controllers on X (Twitter), the crew detected the presence of smoke in the cabin, requiring an immediate return to the airport.

The alert necessitated the activation of emergency services in case of a possible evacuation. Air traffic controllers coordinated the emergency operation, clearing the traffic ahead and shortening the maneuver for a direct approach and priority landing.

During the emergency procedure, the rest of the traffic was held until the runway was operational again. Fortunately, the plane managed to land without incident, and flights resumed after the necessary inspections.
