The newly renovated promenade in San Agustin, Gran Canaria

The Paseo Marítimo de San Agustín, specifically the section between the Don Gregory Hotel and the Beach Club Hotel, has been renovated and has a new image after the works undertaken by the Department of Roads and Works of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council.

In this way, the almost 800 meters of the promenade that, since 2016, had been in a deficient state both in how it looks and in the sense of safety for pedestrians, has been completely renovated and tidied up, since the ground was irregular multiple potholes.

The works have recently been completed, so this segment of the promenade in San Agustín has been cleaned up, and remodeled in its entirety, applying gray paint on it, that visibly changes its appearance. Likewise, the railings that were deteriorated and that constituted a risk to the safety of walkers have been replaced.

Prohibition of circulation of bicycles and electric scooters

The mayor of the area, Bartolomé Acosta, highlighted the speed with which the workers of Vías y Obras have carried out this remodeling. "It has been done in record time".

The next decision that the Council will adopt is to prohibit the circulation of bicycles and electric scooters along the promenade, since it constitutes a danger for pedestrians, especially in the narrowest sections. There have already been some incidents between cyclists and pedestrians.

"The promenade is intended exclusively for walking, not for two-wheeled vehicles that travel at higher speeds, and this decision will be approved soon, also installing signage announcing said prohibition," Acosta said.
