This morning, both Tenerife and La Palma were affected by light snowfall as was predicted by Aemet, leading to the closure of two access roads towards Mt. Teide.

At the moment there's a fine snowcap in Roque de Los Muchachos on La Palma and snow is forecasted at altitudes of over 2,000 m.

Accesses to Mt. Teide are currently closed from La Orotava due to snow on the road and from La Esperanza, due to the presence of ice:

  • TF-21 from Km 16 to 43 (La Caldera).
  • TF-24, from km 24 to 42

Please check this link from the Road Information Center in Tenerife to see which roads are open before planning to drive up to Mt. Teide.
