Some Canary Islands likely to move to lower alert levels on Thursday due to improved data

In a statement today, Ángel Víctor Torres, the President of the Canary Islands, has announced that it is probable that some of the islands will be moved to a lower alert level this week.

Torres said that recent indicators of the sixth wave are improving, which is also why several restrictions have already been removed at a local level, so it can be expected that some islands might also move to a lower alert level on Thursday when the weekly review will happen.

Gran Canaria and Tenerife,  the only two Canary Islands currently placed at level 4 are those with high chances of moving to level 3, due to improved data.

The current alert levels in the Canaries are the following: Gran Canaria and Tenerife are at level 4, while the rest of the islands are all at level 3: Lanzarote (including La Graciosa), Fuerteventura, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro.
