
Spain’s General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has announced a new set of regulations that will significantly affect anyone using personal mobility vehicles (PMVs), such as electric scooters, throughout the country. The measures, aimed especially at improving road safety in urban areas, will come into force on 2 January 2026.
Key safety requirements
From that date, all PMV users will be required to hold civil liability insurance, ensuring coverage for any damage caused to third parties in case of an accident.
